You’ve heard about it, you may even have seen it, but can you secure it? Is Voice over IP (VoIP) the road to take or a journey best left to more daring travellers? Find out more about the possible dangers, and even some benefits, of VoIP. Learn more about the technology, what you should be aware of, and things you must ask your service provider. Understand some of the issues that face this technology – and figure out for yourself if you’re ready for VoIP (without the sales hype!).

ISSA Vancouver welcomes Tim McCreight, CISSP, CPP as our next guest speaker. Tim has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years. During this time he has dealt with many aspects of IT and Security - from back up tapes on 800 dpi reels to Voice over IP. He has been responsible for implementing enterprise wide security programs and conducting risk and vulnerability assessments on major technology platforms. He has published in Security Management magazine, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Protection Professional (CPP). Tim is currently the Director - Security Consulting Division of Arc Business Solutions Inc. based in Edmonton.

On-site registration and networking begins at noon, and lunch will be served at approximately 12:20. The presentation will run from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, to be followed by an open discussion forum. Members and non-members of the ISSA are welcome but space is limited. Cost for the event is $30.00 for non-members, $20.00 for ISSA members and $15.00 for students payable in advance at our web site using Paypal®, or at the door in cash or by cheque payable to “ISSA Vancouver”. RSVP to to guarantee your seat. Please note that we require 72 hours notice of any cancellations, or you will be invoiced for the event since we are required to finalize the food orders.
